Jigokuraku 2nd season; Winter 2026

Keeping this short and sweet because this was a "watch while eating and not paying much attention" anime of the season. It was okay, kind of mid... I don't really have much to say about it lmao, I'm so bored of shonen like this. I don't know why I thought this was a seinen in my initial review, I must have mixed up Ultra Jump and Jump+ and then never double checked hehe.

This season felt more low stakes despite the enemies being way stronger, which was kind of a let down. I feel like the first season had a ton of culling because the cast was too large, but it also made the island feel so much scarier and mysterious. After they got access to Mei, all the mystery disappeared in a flaccid fashion. And now there's this second fleet of ronin and ninjas to raise the stakes at the end and idk it just did not peak my interest much.

The whole wife shtick is getting boring because the wife is still just a Smiling Dead Wife, everyone besides Gabimaru has a more interesting backstory lmao.

Shion and his determination were hot.
